I’m literally verses away, at the time of writing this, from memorizing the Sermon on the Mount. I have been working at it for years—memorizing and forgetting it over and over again—but this time I’m gonna get it done!
And now that it’s (mostly) in my head I’m finding myself wanting to get DEEP! Shoot, I want to go three Es DEEEP! Not only do I want to study the symmetry and structure, as well as the historical background, but I even want to do a good old fashioned word study.
And I got a secret weapon…
Meet “The Amazing Theological Dictionary I Got For Free ‘Cause I Knew a Lady Who Knew a Guy Who Knew a Guy Who was a Super Legit Scholar Who Died (so sad) and They Didn’t Know What To Do With His Library!”
That’s right! A ten volume MONSTER dictionary that’s got all sorts of unbelievable goodies stored in it, just waiting for me to read them!
My plan is simple. As I go through the Sermon on the Mount in my head I’ll look up any word that catches my eye (my mind’s eye?). Then I’ll write about what I learn on that word until I get bored. Repeat, repeat, repeat until I’m done. All from this source with citations in each post.
So buckle up! We’re going to go DEEEP on this word study!
